Why Vocus Fire Safety exists
Most buildings are looked after by a patchwork of providers. One firm writes the fire risk assessment, another services the alarm, a third looks at the doors, and nobody owns the gaps between them. When an inspector, insurer or enforcing authority asks for evidence, it is the Responsible Person who has to piece it together.
Vocus Fire Safety was founded in 2026 by Paul Chamberlain to close those gaps. We bring consultancy, compliance and delivery under one roof, so the same team that identifies a problem can fix it, record it and remind you when it next needs checking.
Paul Chamberlain, Managing Director

Paul spent more than 30 years in Fire and Rescue, in both operational and strategic leadership roles. His career included incident command at major emergencies and developing command decisions and procedures used across the service.
That background shapes how we work. Paul has seen how fires start, how they spread through gaps in compartmentation, and how people behave when they need to get out. It is why our reports focus on what actually matters in a fire, and why our recommendations are practical rather than theoretical.
Paul established Vocus Fire Safety to give building owners and managers the same standard of advice he would expect for his own family: honest, evidenced and proportionate.
How we work
- AssessWe start with the building as it is: a fire risk assessment, survey or design review carried out to a recognised standard.
- AdviseYou get clear, prioritised findings in plain English, with the law behind them explained for your building and your side of the border.
- DeliverIf you want us to, we take care of the work too, from fire doors and fire stopping to alarms and extinguishers, all under one contract.
- EvidenceEvery report, certificate and next-due date goes into the Vocus Fire Safety Portal, so you can show a complete record whenever you are asked.
Standards and experience
- PAS 79-1:2020 and BS 9792:2025 for fire risk assessments of non-housing and housing premises
- Approved Document B, ADB (Wales), BS 9999 and BS 9991 for fire strategies and design advice
- BS 5839-1, BS 5266-1, BS 5306-3 and BS 8214 for alarms, emergency lighting, extinguishers and fire doors
- 30+ years in Fire and Rescue: Paul's operational and strategic leadership experience behind every assessment
Sprinklers, smoke ventilation and rising mains can be serviced under the same contract, so you still have one point of contact.
Where we work
We are based at 30-32 Clarence Place in Newport. Most of our work is across South Wales, including Newport and Cardiff, and over the Severn in Bristol and the South West. Because fire safety law differs between Wales and England, we make sure the advice you get is right for where your building is. For larger projects and multi-site portfolios, we work anywhere in the UK.
